Brass Tree with Birds by
Shraga Landesman 9.4 x 12.2 x 5.9 inches
"My spiritual sources are the Bible and the ancient cultures that lived in the region. A disappearing world that I miss which does not exist anymore. I confront this world my way, trying to decode familiar cultural codes from those magic objects that these cultures left behind ".
This is how Israeli Judaica artist Shraga Landesman describes the inspiration for his unique work.
Using very simple and organic lines, pewter and aluminum with a soft brushed finish, he depicts images of nature and animals long gone. His work creates strong feelings of longing to simple and spiritual life.
This Menorah is reminiscent of a tree in autumn, a few leaves are still on the branches, but most of them are scattered around. A few birds happily inhabit this tree.
