Ceramic Pomegranate
"Rimon"
Rachel Cadmor has been
creating distinctive ceramics for over 40 years. Her inspiration, drawn from
her connection to nature and her deep bond to the land, history and people of Israel, can be
seen in the shapes she fashions and the inscriptions found on her works.
This unique Ceramic
Pomegranate, one of the Biblical seven species, is inscribed with the verses
from Psalms 137: 5-7 "If
I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand wither, let my tongue cleave to
my palate if I do not remember you, if I do not set Jerusalem above my highest
joy."
Tradition has it that the
pomegranate has 613 seeds to represent the 613 Commandments. It is customary to
eat a pomegranate as a new fruit on Rosh Hashanah.
