Ben Porat Silver Fish Pendant F-200s
Ben Porat Silver Fish Pendant
Ben Porat Silver Fish Pendant.

The three-dimensional fish symbol is what makes this handcrafted pendant so unique.
In Judaism, fish symbolizes prosperity and abundance. In the Book of Genesis, the  fish were blessed with thriving in infinite quantities and so it became a symbol of fertility. The boundless fertility comes from the Divine blessing. Another quality attributed to fish in the Jewish tradition is protection from the evil eye, as fish live in the water and therefore cannot be harmed by earthly negative energies.

The fish symbol bears a strong association with the mythological figure of Joseph from the Bible. "Ben Porat Yosef Alei Ayne" is a portion of Jacob's blessing to his sons, from the Book of Genesis. Jacob calls his youngest son Joseph "Ben Porat Yosef" as he blesses his name, which means a fruitful or abundant son (Genesis,
49:42). In Jewish tradition,  Joseph is considered righteous,  and so it has become common custom to use his name as a virtue [segula] against evil eye to provide blessing and protection.
The engraved verse is from the book of Psalms where the author expresses their faith and trust in G-d: " Keep me, O God; for I have taken refuge in Thee". (Book of Psalms,17:1).

This fine silver pendant of multiple symbolic meanings provides blessing and protection in keeping with the wisdom of Kabbalah.
