Description About the artist Shipping info
This stunning stainless steel wall plaque was created by renowned Dorit Klein Judaic artist. Engraved in the center is one of the fifteen Jewish Psalms that begin with the word “Shir Hama’alot” – a Song of Ascent. The words of the Psalm are in the center and surrounding it in a magnificent grey frame are pomegranates and doves and flower decorations. Above the text is a mystical Kabbalah motif. The coloring is blue but the words of the Psalm that pay tribute to the woman in the home are prominently written in red. The final words of the Psalm, “Shalom al Yisrael” – may Israel be granted peace – is also engraved in large letters – a reminder that when peace is lacking, G-d’s blessings cannot be realized.
Shir Hamaalot (Psalms 120:134) is a group of fifteen psalms that start with the introductory phrase Shir Ha-Ma'a lot (a song of ascents). They were sung by the Jews as they approached Jerusalem when they travelled there before the Festival and they were also sung by the Leviim in the Temple on the festival of Sukkot during the joyous Drawing of the Water ceremony. We read the Shir Hamaalot on the short Shabbat afternoons in the winter. It reminds us of the Temple rituals and is an expression of hope that speedily in our days, the Beit Hamikdash will be rebuilt and these psalms will again be sung by pilgrims and Leviim.

Size: 20 x 19 cm / 7.8 x 7.4 in.
