Description About the artist Shipping info

With this pretty wall decoration, your family and guests will always know which direction to face when they pray. Highly respected Judaica artist Dorit Klein has produced this magnificent piece delicately carved out of stainless steel. The fine turquoise color will enhance any room décor.

Throughout the ages, the walls of Jewish home were graced with a wall plaque of one word - “Mizrach” meaning “East”. This was not a compass direction but guidance on the direction to face when praying. This custom has its origin in the times when the Jews were exiled to Babylon and Jerusalem was east of Babylon. The name Mizrach has remained although today the custom is for Jews all over the world to pray facing Jerusalem. Jews in Jerusalem pray facing the Holy Temple.
