Star of David Jewelry

The Star of David is a very popular Jewish jewelry. In Hebrew it is known as Magen David or Shield of David, evidently from the well-known belief that the King of Israel has this symbol placed on his shield, although there has been no manifestation that this is accurate. It is created with two triangles, entwined forming a six pointed shape - Hexagram. One of the triangle points upwards while the other triangle points downwards. The symbol was in use in Israel during the Roman times, but it seems to have become particularly affiliated with Judaism only in later centuries.

At the time of the 17th century, it has become a practice to place the Star of David outside the temples, to identify them as a house of worship by the Jews. Although, the reason to why the symbol was chosen was not really clear. Nowadays the Star of David is a universally acknowledged Jewish symbol. It is generally believed to be the symbolic representation of Israel as it also appears on the flag of Israel, and the Israeli counterpart of the Red Cross is known as the Magen David Adom. It was also adopted by the Zionist movement as a national symbol that supports the Jewish nation.

In the Kabbalah, the two triangles symbolize the dualities inherent in man:  spiritual vs. physical, good vs. evil, etc. The triangle that points upwards represents our good deeds, which go up to heaven and set off a flow of goodness back down to the world, represented by the triangle that points down. The Star of David is sometimes cognized as the Creator's Star, where each of the six points symbolizes a day of the week and the middle part stands for the Sabbath.
In ancient Hebrew, the name of David is comprised of three letters Dalet, Vav and Dalet. The Dalet letter in ancient Hebrew is really in the shape of a triangle. The six pointed star was used by King David as his key signature. The letter in the middle "Vav” literally means six – thus the six pointed star. The six-points represent the rule of God over the universe and protect us from all six directions: South, West, East, North, Up and Down. King David used this symbol in the battleground on his shield as a sign from God.

The Star of David was believed to be a powerful talisman during the ancient times and was frequently used to drive back accidents, dangers and evil. At present times it can be found in different forms of jewelries and ornaments. The Star of David Jewelry is a protection that shields the person wearing it from the evil eye. Some jewelry with the Star of David sometimes includes gemstones, prayers or other scriptures found in the Bible or the Torah. It adds in an extra power or energy with the combination provided by the stone, prayer and scripture.

You can purchase the Star of David Jewelry in either silver or gold, in the form of two or three dimensions. When you wear the Star of David, you will undoubtedly receive God’s protection and the positive energy that has blessed David with a wondrous life will work out its miracles on you as well.
