Artist Shraga Landesman breathes new life into the traditional Seder plate with this modern version that fuses together old and new. On an aluminum tray rests six gold dishes. In the center, the center of a Star of David reveals fresh wood and round the tray are etched words from the Song of Songs, read in the Synagogue on Pessach, “The blossoms have appeared in the land. The time of singing has arrived.”
It is the custom to read the Song of Songs on the Shabbat of the intermediate days of Pessach (chol ha’moed) before the Torah reading of the day. If there is no Shabbat chol ha’moed, it is read on the morning of the chag of the seventh day.
